I'm very excited to announce that my newest play, Merch Girls, will be having a staged reading at Alchemical Studios (Studio One) on Saturday, February 9th @ 4pm.

We received support from a Park Avenue Armory Education Space Grant to workshop the play over the past few weeks, and this reading is the first in a series this winter/spring from Ant and Dove, a writers collective.

MERCH GIRLS SYNOPSIS:  Justine, Nora, and Kelly have this high school thing in check. They get good grades, don’t hate their mothers, and have boyfriends that play together in one of the coolest bands in town, Korova Milkbar. And the boys let the girls run the merch table at all the shows. High school rocks! But when one of Justine’s teachers kisses her, the girls start asking questions about whether everything is as great as it seems. Left by the boys to pack up their gear after a gig, Justine, Nora, and Kelly play the boys’ instruments for the first time together, and summon a voracious monster made of teenage girls, a force of pure destruction from outside the gendered power structure. The monster wants to sell the merch girls on the idea that it’s time to destroy the world and start over. A sci-fi feminist adventure for everyone trying to figure out what to do with their anger in this #metoo moment, Merch Girls explores the power and danger of female rage and asks what comes next after our monsters are released into the world.

BLACKED OUT Reading at The Artist Co-op, Mon 1/21 (MLK Day)

I'm honored that the Artist Co-op is featuring my play Blacked Out as a part of their Cold Reading Series, tomorrow night, Mon. January 21st, 6:30pm.

The Artist Co-op is at 500 West 52nd Street, and the reading will be in Studio 1.

Blacked Out is a journey through four New York City blackouts, spanning forty years of history and an imagined future, exploring how black/white racial relations have both changed and stayed the same.  The play seeks to ask how much Americans have really learned from our history, and if we’re making enough progress against racism and income inequality, considering the many other challenges predicted for the 21st century.

I can't wait to hear people's thoughts on the play!  It's a special way to celebrate MLK Day, I think.
Would love to see folks there, if you'd like to join us!

The Reverse Engineers...

ROCKING THE PULASKI BRIDGE!

Saturday, 9/22 @ 7pm

The weather gods turned against us all summer when we tried to play benefit parties for the North Brooklyn Boat Club.  But now, NOW, it's September, and nothing will stop us.  Right?  Right.

We'll finally get to share with you our new song "Bethesda" before we head into the studio to record next month.  Plus, there's beer, a bonfire, grilled chow!  And live music all night...all to support the lovely NBBC that helps to connect New Yorkers with the beautiful estuary they live right next to through environmental education and getting them out on the water in human-powered boats.

Who could want more?  Come party with us!

Saturday September 22nd
Gate opens @ 6pm, TRE on at 7pm
$5/door
North Brooklyn Boat Club @ Broadway Stages Boatyard
51 Ash Street, Greenpoint, Brooklyn
(Under the Pulaski Bridge!)

The Reverse Engineers @ NBBC's Summer Party Sat. 7/21

--NOW CANCELED AGAIN DUE TO RAIN...WAAAAH!

Okay, so we were supposed to play for the Solstice Party on June 23rd, but it got rained out, so we're hoping that the rain will stay away for at least the first half of this weekend.  NBBC's parties are super-fun, we have a brand new song to share with you ("Bethesda"!), and there are three other great bands!  Plus, all the proceeds support the North Brooklyn Boat Club, home of environmental stewardship and getting all New Yorkers out on our beautiful estuary in human-powered boats!  These are all good things...come join us on Saturday...except don't, since now it's canceled.

Saturday July 21st
Gate open @ 6pm, TRE on at 7pm
$5/door
North Brooklyn Boat Club @ Broadway Stages Boatyard
51 Ash Street, Greenpoint, Brooklyn
(Under the Pulaski Bridge!)
