Writing for the New York Philharmonic's Very Young People's Concerts

Over the past few months, I've had the pleasure of working on a story for the New York Philharmonic's Very Young People's Concerts.  The story features Philippe the Penguin, exploring his adventures with his friends Piano and Forte (and thus a lesson about dynamics), as set to Grieg's Peer Gynt Suite.  It's been a real thrill to finally get into the rehearsal room with musicians, and hear the story with the music, wonderfully narrated by Rebecca Young (the concert host and NY Philharmonic violist).  This Friday is the final dress rehearsal, where Marion Schoevaert's beautiful illustrations will be projected, fully bringing the story to life with text, images, and music!  I'm going to catch the 3pm performance this Sunday to witness myself how the very young concert goers experience it all.  Very excited!  A huge thank you to Amy Leffert, Ted Wiprud, Marion Schoevaert, Rebecca Young, and all the wonderful artists at the New York Philharmonic!
